The La Grange Business Association continues to play a central role in promoting commerce and community activity in the village’s downtown district. Representing more than 300 local businesses, the organization works to coordinate events, marketing efforts, and advocacy initiatives aimed at keeping downtown La Grange vibrant and economically strong.

The association’s membership includes a wide range of local entrepreneurs, from restaurants and retail stores to service providers and professional offices. Business owners such as Tony Kallergis, owner of the downtown restaurant Prasino, and Amy Jerue, a longtime advocate for downtown events and promotions, are among the local business figures who have participated in association efforts over the years.

Through seasonal promotions, festivals, and coordinated marketing campaigns, the association works to draw residents and visitors alike to the downtown business district. Events such as holiday shopping promotions, sidewalk sales, and seasonal festivals have become a regular part of the village calendar and are designed to encourage people to explore local shops and restaurants.

“These events create energy downtown and give people a reason to come out and discover businesses they may not have visited before,” said Tony Kallergis, who has been involved in local business initiatives for many years. “When you bring people together for community events, it helps every business in the district.”

Association leaders say collaboration among businesses is one of the group’s greatest strengths. Rather than competing individually for customers, merchants often work together through coordinated promotions and joint events that highlight the downtown district as a destination.

“We’re fortunate to have a downtown where businesses support one another,” said Amy Jerue. “When we plan events or promotions, the goal isn’t just to help one store—it’s to bring people into La Grange so they can experience everything the community has to offer.”

Beyond events, the association also serves as a voice for local businesses in discussions with village officials. Members regularly share feedback about issues such as parking availability, streetscape improvements, and economic development opportunities that could affect downtown commerce.

Association leaders say maintaining a lively downtown environment remains their long-term priority. By supporting local entrepreneurs and encouraging residents to shop locally, they hope to ensure the downtown district remains one of the defining features of the La Grange community.
