La Grange Park Police Commission to Interview Seven Patrol Officer Candidates Saturday

La Grange Park Police Commission to Interview Seven Patrol Officer Candidates Saturday

La Grange Park's Board of Police Commissioners will interview seven candidates for patrol officer positions Saturday morning, a key step in filling vacancies on the village's 22-officer force.

The commission meets at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at Village Hall, 447 N. Catherine Ave. In open session, commissioners will formally exhaust the top-scoring Band 1 eligibility list and vote to remove two candidates who failed to meet qualifications.

The board will then recess into closed session to interview seven candidates from the Initial Patrol Officer Eligibility List, plus at least one lateral hire candidate.

The lateral candidate is notable. Chief of Police Tim Contois said in September 2025 that "all recent new hires have been recruits," meaning the department had not previously tapped experienced officers from other agencies in its current hiring cycle.

The eligibility list dates to January 13, 2026, when commissioners approved it based on written exam scores. Chairman LaVelle Topps, Commissioner Mary Hayes, and Commissioner Tim Albores make up the three-member board, which meets roughly every two months.

For patrol officers in their first seven years working in La Grange, pay ranges from $83,152 to $117,634.
