Local kids and families in La Grange just scored a big win — and nobody had to hit a single ball to get it. The Park District of La Grange has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to upgrade the tennis courts at Gilbert Park, giving residents a better place to play and grow their game.
Construction is expected to start as early as April or May 2026 — so changes could be taking shape at Gilbert Park before summer even begins.
More Money, More Upgrades
The USTA grant doesn't come alone. It's teaming up with funding from the Park District's 2024 referendum, which La Grange voters approved on November 5, 2024. That vote gave the district the green light to issue up to $13,860,000 in bonds for improvements across 8 of its parks.
Put the two funding sources together, and the park project becomes bigger and better than what referendum dollars alone could have delivered. The Park District announced the grant on March 3, 2026, saying the USTA funding "helps strengthen the overall project and enhances the improvements we can bring to the community."
Watch Gilbert Park This Spring
If you're planning a trip to Gilbert Park this spring or summer, keep your eyes on those courts — exciting changes are on the way.
