Nazareth Academy Names Local Nonprofit Leader, Longtime Supporters Among 2026 Honorees

A local nonprofit executive, a global technology chief, a commercial banking leader, and a couple who have supported Nazareth Academy for nearly four decades will be honored at the La Grange Park high school's Reunion Weekend on June 5–6.

The school announced its 2026 Four Pillars Award recipients and Athletic Hall of Fame inductees on Wednesday. The Four Pillars Awards recognize alumni and friends who represent the school's core values of scholarship, service, spirit, and unity.

Among the honorees is Julie Ryan '87, who serves as Chief External Affairs Officer at Pillars Community Health, the La Grange Park–based nonprofit that provides health care, counseling, and social services to residents across western Cook County. Ryan received the Spirit award.

Priscilla and Bill Boston, who have supported Nazareth for 39 years and founded a named scholarship at the school, will receive the Unity award.

Shamus Weiland '90 earned the Scholarship award. He serves as Global Chief Information Officer at Manulife, the international financial services firm. Matthew Hammer '99 received the Service award. Hammer is a Senior Vice President at Wintrust Financial, where he manages commercial banking relationships for Chicago-area businesses.

Five new members will also enter the Athletic Hall of Fame: Stew Brase '07 (baseball), Matthew Clark '16 (golf), Emily Marcheschi Dorner '06 (soccer), Holly Haberkorn '13 (softball), and former Athletic Director Duane Buturusis, who was selected as a Friend of Athletics for his longtime support of the program.

Reunion Weekend begins Friday, June 5, with a celebration for the Class of 2001's 25th reunion. The school has not yet posted the full 2026 schedule.

Nazareth Academy, a Catholic coeducational college prep school at 1209 West Ogden Avenue, completed its 125th anniversary year in 2025.
