County roads in La Grange could be in line for crack-sealing and drainage repairs after the Cook County Board of Commissioners approved more than $5.5 million in transportation contracts this week — including two countywide maintenance programs that cover every corner of Cook County.
The Board approved the package of planning, design, and construction contracts during the week of April 17, according to a county announcement published Friday on cookcountyil.gov. The two contracts most relevant to La Grange residents are:
- $1,305,533 for countywide crack-sealing on county roadways, described as preventive maintenance to extend the useful life of road surfaces.
- $2,000,000 for countywide drainage engineering services, covering permit reviews, drainage investigations, environmental permitting, and maintenance of wetland and riparian mitigation sites.
Together, those two contracts total roughly $3.3 million and apply to all areas of Cook County — meaning county-maintained roads in La Grange are potentially within scope. However, the county's announcement does not name any specific La Grange streets or drainage sites, so it is not yet confirmed whether local roads will be included in the work.
The remaining contracts in the package target specific communities elsewhere in the county: a $1,190,562 bridge deck study on Lake Cook Road in Deerfield, Northbrook, and Palatine; a $408,748 resurfacing and safety project on Lonnquist Boulevard in Mount Prospect; $415,250 for pothole patching in northern Cook County maintenance districts; and $191,733 for sidewalk gap work along Quentin Road in Palatine.
Residents can check Cook County DoTH's interactive project map at maps.cookcountyil.gov/hwyproject to track active and planned projects, though the map may not yet reflect the newly approved contracts.
