Field Lights Coming to Sedgwick Park: La Grange Park Board to Formalize AYSO Deal

Field Lights Coming to Sedgwick Park: La Grange Park Board to Formalize AYSO Deal

Sedgwick Park is getting field lights for youth soccer. The La Grange Park District board meets Monday night to formally ratify an agreement with AYSO that's already been signed, making the lighting addition official.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Recreation Center's DeSitter Room, 536 East Ave.

At a previous meeting on January 12th, AYSO representative Martin Galik of Riverside thanked the district for its support and offering to help pay for replacing grass on fields affected by construction.

The lights are part of a bigger investment at Sedgwick Park, located at 10th Avenue and 48th Street. The district received a $600,000 state park grant in January for Sedgwick improvements including athletic fields, baseball upgrades, and restroom and parking work. That's part of $1.8 million in state grants the district has landed over three straight years.

Monday's agenda also includes a review of playground equipment bids and restroom bids for Denning and Sedgwick parks tied to the 2024 referendum. La Grange Little League's Michael Buttron will present a proposed concession stand agreement.

The district has not released cost details, a construction timeline, or the specific hours lights would extend play beyond dusk. The full agenda packet is available on the Park District website.
