Lyons Township baseball won again Friday, keeping the Lions near the top of the West Suburban Silver standings. The team entered the game 9-2 in conference play and 18-5 overall.
The victory caps a big week for the program. On Tuesday, senior right-hander Jack Slightom threw a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Cincinnati commit, whose fastball has been clocked at 94-96 mph, is drawing MLB Draft attention ahead of the July 11 selection. Sox Machine's Josh Nelson published a draft video profile of Slightom on May 7.
Lyons cruised past Proviso West 11-0 to secure the shutout win, with IHSA baseball regional brackets set to be posted around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13. Check back for updates as the schedule progresses.
