Four Lions Headed to Division I Programs After LTHS Girls Swimming's Best State Finish in Years

Four LTHS Girls Swimming seniors are heading to college programs — including Dartmouth, Brown, and UC Santa Barbara — after a season that ended with a program-best relay finish at the IHSA state meet and a sixth-place team trophy.

The Lions finished sixth at the IHSA Girls Swimming & Diving State Finals on November 14–15, 2025, at FMC Natatorium in Westmont, scoring 131 points. Fourteen swimmers made the trip to state, combining for five all-state finishes in the championship finals (top eight) and seven more in the consolation finals.

The highlight of the meet: the 200-yard medley relay team of Dylan Jorgensen, Maeve Collins, Claire Crimmins, and Sydney Kail touched the wall in second place — the best relay finish in program history.

Collins was the Lions' top individual performer, placing fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.34. The senior swimmer, who committed to UC Santa Barbara, also competed in four finals at state — the maximum allowed. Lindsay Forebaugh committed to Dartmouth, Anna Pansing to Brown, and Kylie Thompson to Bowling Green State University. All four were honored at LTHS's 2025 Fall Signing Day alongside 15 other Lions student-athletes.

"It was an awesome experience doing it with these girls and our team up in the stands," Pansing, who placed 11th in the 100 freestyle and 12th in the 200, told the Riverside-Brookfield Landmark. "We had a great team culture so it was really fun this year. When we were behind the blocks, we could just feel the energy and it definitely motivates you."

The season was also the first for head coach Brendan Weibel, a 2014 LTHS graduate who took over after Scott Walker retired following 24 seasons leading the program. Weibel came to the job from Lane Tech, where he coached the girls team to a program-best 16th-place state finish in 2024.

"Lyons Township swimming is more than just a program. It's a pillar of the community," Weibel told the Riverside-Brookfield Landmark. "I want to preserve that culture of hard work and unity while continuing to grow the team."

The Lions compete in the Western Suburban Conference Silver division. The 2026-27 season is scheduled to open with tryouts on August 10–12, 2026.
