La Grange Park families have until this weekend to sign up for the village's annual Community Volunteer Day, set for Saturday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Volunteers will help older adults in the community with basic lawn care and outdoor spring cleaning. Individuals, families, and organizations can all participate. Groups should note their status on the registration form at lagrangepark.org/FormCenter/Residents-5/Community-Volunteer-Day-SignUp-69.
Older adults who need yard help can request assistance at lagrangepark.org/FormCenter/Residents-5/Community-Volunteer-Day-Assistance-Reque-68.
The village's 10-member Youth Commission, made up of La Grange Park students in grades 7 through 12, will discuss Volunteer Day logistics at its Monday meeting at 7 p.m. in the Village Hall Board Room, 447 North Catherine Avenue.
The Youth Commission, founded in 2002, has sponsored the day of service for years. During past Community Volunteer Days, commissioners have been joined by residents who signed up through the Village's registration form, and worked in teams of roughly four or five that fanned out to households that requested help. Residents can also volunteer or request assistance by calling Village Hall at (708) 354-0225.
