Local students pursuing college or trade school could benefit from a $750 township sponsorship approved on the agenda at Lyons Township's first public meeting of 2026, held Tuesday evening at the Township Hall on Joliet Road in Countryside.
The April 14 session ran in two parts: a Regular Board Meeting at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Annual Town Meeting at 7:00 p.m. — a gathering open to all residents. Township Supervisor Christopher Getty led the meeting alongside Trustees Mark Anderson, Miriam Cruz, David Imielski, and Candice Mares.
What Was on the Table
The board's agenda included a $750 sponsorship for the La Grange School District #105 DASH scholarship program, which supports District 105 students heading to college or trade school. A separate $500 sponsorship for the Kiwanis Club of La Grange was also on the agenda, backing the group's "Breakfast & Beats" event set for Sunday, May 3, at Helping Hand, 9649 W. 55th St. in Countryside.
