Plymouth Place Expansion Faces Key Vote Tuesday in La Grange Park

Plymouth Place Expansion Faces Key Vote Tuesday in La Grange Park

On Tuesday May 19th, the La Grange Park Planning & Zoning Commission is scheduled to review findings on a 38-unit expansion at Plymouth Place senior living campus.

What's being built, and where

The new units would go on the east side of Plymouth Place's 19-acre campus — the same area where 54 cottage homes from the 1950s once stood. Those cottages were torn down under earlier village approvals to make room for the Arboretum Villas, a multi-building independent living development. A first batch of 59 villas opened in 2024. The 38 new units would complete the project. No new land is being added to the campus.

What changed from the original plan

The village approved a Phase 3 plan in 2022 with 35 units, ranging from two to four stories. The new proposal replaces that with a single larger building: two four-story wings linked by a one-story section with a garage and clubhouse.

That means three more units than before, and taller buildings on both ends — each wing topping out around 54 feet, taller than zoning rules normally allow.

How to weigh in

Residents can speak during public comment at Tuesday's meeting. Speakers get three minutes and must state their name at the podium. Questions can go to Deputy Village Manager Maggie Jarr at 708-354-0225, ext. 108.
